I don't post very often to my own journal, but I do comment quite a bit while I am out and about...I just have to say that I LOVED what I saw earlier when I caught the live cam show from our favorite Kitty and the oh so masterful M4ttyb! I love watching them both...I was not born to eat pussy (you know...I got the gay gene) but if M4ttyb told me I had to, I might just have to try it!

Just got back from the Margaret Cho show here in Boston...she rocked my world again. She was hilarious and had me laughing and clapping all night! The rips on the Bush White House and the gay sex jokes were as entertaining as always....I have spent too much time watching the news lately and getting depressed...it was so nice to have a break from all that shit and listen to somebody (besides my friends) saying what needed to be said. Long live the Cho Revolution! Cho for Prez! (With Hillary as VP?)

:-) That is so fucking Mulan!

Ryan Reynolds is fucking HOT!

Just saw The Amityville Horror remake...I had to, House of Wax opens until next week (can't wait to see Paris Hilton DIE!) So I went in expecting an awful remake of an awful movie with no redeeming qualities. I was wrong! It was really fucking scary! I jumped about twenty times. The movie was filmed brilliantly. The scares were immediate, and the editing was flawless. I haven't been so jolted by a movie in some time. If you like horror movies (and hunky men with bare chests...) you must see this movie. Ryan is a dreamboat, even if he is a little mental...The story is a little silly (haunted house...blah, blah, blah...) but the movie still pulls out some serious scares!

Moving again

So, we are moving into a new apartment in June...I am looking for some fun paint color ideas. I want to go for something radically different. We will have Martha Green in at least one room. Looking for your suggestions....want something REALLY cool for the bedroom and something different for the office. Any suggestions?

Random celeb WTF...so my partner just emailed an old college friend whom he got contact info from another old friend...just told him what he was up to these days, mentioned we were moving (yet again) and that we were excited about seeing Margaret Cho next weekend...A few minutes later while still online, a new email in the inbox. I check it, and it's from his old friend...he just talks about what he is up to, the house he bought, his job, etc. and then says whatever you do don't say Margaret Cho around Scott, they had a huge falling out a couple of years ago and used to be best friends! HOLY SHIT! I have met several celebs, but to know I am only a few people away from Margaret Cho...I feel like some sort of miracle has taken place. Like I am closer to God now! Life is GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

:-)

PS...I don't care what happened, I still think Margaret should be the next President (even better, the next Pope. You can be sure she ain't no Nazi!)

Enjoying my exploration of LJ

So while playing around on this site I was inspired to share a VERY gay story...

Nearly a year ago while getting ready to close the store I was standing at the info desk...a guy walks up and asks the bookseller standing next to me if he is the manager. He looks at me and says "No, but he is." The guy looks at me and says "I have Bette Midler with me and she was hoping to look around." As he finishes his sentence I look up and the Divine Miss M is standing in front of me. She immediatley asks "Do you have a copy of The South Beach Diet?" What a question! If I didn't have a copy of the fucking SBD what kind of bookstore am I running, right? So while trying to contain my enthusiasm I lead Bette (cause now we are on a first name basis of course! LOL) around the store and get her several copies of South Beach Diet (one for her and some for her entourage.) She asks me about cult movie guides, so I take her to the Film section and show her a number of movie guides. (So Bette's a movie buff, who knew!) She picks up a couple of books and then asks for the political books. If you are reading this you know what books she was looking at. I was still trying to be calm and not act like a fool, so I am trying to give my opinion on the latest Current Affairs titles with little success. I am still at a loss for words, I just want to tell her how "Beaches" STILL makes me sob like a widow after all these years. Instead I am trying to tell her about the latest anti-Bush books and not babble like a fool. After 15 minutes of being her personal shopper I realize that the other booksellers in the store are getting annoyed because it is already 11:15pm and they really want to go home. So, I have to steer Bette (again, first names remember!) to the registers and get her out so my employees can go home! While she and her entourage are at the registers checking out I make my way over to her manager type guy and casually ask him if Ms. Middler (ok, no first name basis, we are not friends, sadly...) would mind signing a copy of her latest CD (which just happened to be on display at the registers) for me. He quickly grabbed a copy off the rack and asked for a pen so he could take it to her to get signed. So, now I have a signed copy of Bette singing the Rosemary Clooney songbook. How gay is that???!!!!

I'm back...

So, I got a computer and am now able to go on line whenever I want! Yeah for me! I started this journal like two years ago and never got around to visiting the site again. Now I am back and hopefully I will be better about adding entries.

So, we have started packing our stuff up as the building we are in (like the last 3!) is going condo. We will be moving a few blocks away into another apartment. This time it actually worked out in our favor! We will be saving a lot of money on rent, and we only have an extra 5 minute walk to the subway. We won't be giving up any space, it gets more sunlight, and we can redecorate/paint to our hearts content! Oh yeah, we get to sign a long-term lease, so we don't have to worry about moving any time soon!

More Random Thoughts...

So I am very ready to leave, but my friend/employee is running late for work yet again! I have 4 days left after today and cannot wait to finish up my run here! I am going back into the book business after a 4 year absence.

Today started out with quite a bang. I almost walked mid-shift because the big boss in charge pulled a power trip. She picked the wrong day to question my managerial skills. I am so fucking over this company. I gave them ample time to prepare for my departure, and here she is pulling a power trip on me...

The day got better when one of my college student employees walked in on her return from NYC...she brought me back a gorgeous faux Prada checkbook wallet. It looks fabulous in my faux Prada "man purse"....

So I will be working in the same building as Saks and accross the street from Neiman Marcus. It's only a matter of time before I break down and buy a real Prada something or other. For the longest time I refused to consider the notion of spending money on a real Prada anything, but as time goes by...I don't know!

Welcome to my Brain

So here I am. A tired store manager who longs to be the cute bookstore boy of yesteryear. I was once thin and gorgeous, now I'm not so much. Not that I don't still have it going on, I just have it going on with a few more pounds! I will soon be giving up this gig as the Jam Pusher and moving back into the realm of bookselling. God won't it be nice to get away from all of these freakin oldies who treat the store samples as an f'n buffet! SWK is not a BUFFET! It is a for profit business, and not the local senior center!

Anyway, can you tell that I am looking forward to escaping "The Hill"? I am so tired of the tired old ladies and needy, whiny housewives complaining and demanding more customer service than is even possible to provide!

Goodbye Jam Factory! Hello Halls of Knowledge!

xo

N-Daddy
